Job Summary

The Tool & Die Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification, and fabrication of tools, dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, and related equipment used in the production of caster wheels. The role ensures tooling is maintained in optimum condition to support quality, productivity, and continuous manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and servicing of production tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
• Troubleshoot tooling problems and implement corrective actions to minimize production downtime.
• Inspect tooling components and perform adjustments, fitting, grinding, polishing, welding, and machining work when required.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
• Set up and operate machine shop equipment such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and other precision tools.
• Fabricate, modify, and improve tooling components to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
• Support production during tool changeovers, trial runs, and new product development activities.
• Conduct root cause analysis on tooling failures and recommend improvements.
• Maintain tooling maintenance records, spare parts inventory, and service reports.
• Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements (5S).
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance Departments on tooling-related issues.

Requirements:

• SPM, Diploma/Certificate in Tool & Die Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in tool and die maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in metal fabrication, machining, welding, and precision measurement.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is an added advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and under minimum supervision.
