ASEM (Advanced Semiconductor Excellence Malaysia) is a national initiative under the Malaysia IC Design Park, aligned with the National Semiconductor Strategy and supported by the Ministry of Economy, the Selangor State Government, and SIDEC. It aims to shift Malaysia’s semiconductor industry from “Made in Malaysia” to “Made by Malaysia” by enabling local capabilities in IC design, prototyping, and production. ASEM provides access to EDA tools, testing infrastructure, IP resources, MPW services, talent development programs, and the Selangor Semiconductor Fund. Through partnerships with leading global institutions and over 25 local universities, ASEM fosters academic collaboration, research, and talent mobility. Working closely with more than 150 industry partners and major foundries, ASEM offers comprehensive services in talent development, advanced training, and R&D for the semiconductor ecosystem.

About The Program
The Digital IC Design Engineer Apprenticeship Program is designed for graduates who aspire to build a career in Digital IC Design, RTL Development, and Semiconductor Architecture Design.
Participants will undergo structured technical training in digital design fundamentals, RTL coding practices, and RISC-V processor architecture, followed by industry-focused On-the-Job Training (OJT).
Responsibilities
As a Digital IC design engineer apprentice, you will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to industry-standard semiconductor design workflows such as
• Developing RTL modules using Verilog/SystemVerilog
• Designing and implementing digital logic circuits
• Supporting processor and SoC block-level design tasks
• Performing functional simulation and debugging
• Assisting in design validation and integration activities
• Supporting synthesis and timing-aware design practices
• Collaborating with verification and physical design teams
• Preparing design documentation and technical reports
• Participating in engineering reviews and design discussions
Who We're Looking For
• Fresh graduates or final-year students in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines
• Strong interest in Digital IC Design, Processor Architecture, or Semiconductor Engineering
• Basic understanding of digital logic design and computer architecture
• Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog is an advantage
• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills
• Eagerness to learn semiconductor design workflows
• Able to commit to the full training and OJT duration
