Position Summary
The Overhaul/Repair Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving repair and overhaul processes for aerospace components within the MRO operation. This role emphasizes process engineering to ensure repairs are executed effectively and efficiently. Key responsibilities include supporting repair development and validation, driving process improvements, expanding repair capabilities, providing technical support to production, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support for MRO Operations
- Develop and maintain repair instructions, work scopes based on component condition, approved maintenance data and engineering requirements.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to production and repair operations, including troubleshooting repair related issues, monitor yield performance, analyze scraps, rework and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support the evaluation and disposition of non-conforming parts through technical assessments and engineering recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross functional team to resolve technical issues affecting turnaround time and yield
- Process and Capability Development
- Support the development and implementation of new capability projects by process evaluation, qualification and validation activities.
- Conduct technical assessments of repair methods, materials, and process changes to support cost effective and technical compliant repair solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing repair effectiveness, reducing scrap and rework and improving operational performance.
- Document and Compliance
- Prepare and maintain electronic work plans, repair work scopes and engineering records in accordance with approved maintenance data and established process flows.
- Create, revise and maintain engineering work instruction, repair procedures and related technical documentation.
- Participate in internal audits, regulatory audits and compliance reviews by providing technical documentation and supporting corrective actions as required.
- Tooling and Equipment Evaluation
- Support the evaluation, qualification and validation of special tools, jigs, fixtures and test equipment required for repair and overhaul activities.
- Support the preparation of technical data, specifications and documentation for tooling, documentation and maintenance activities
- Safety and Risk Management
- Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities involving engineering investigations.
- Identify and assess technical risks related to new or modified processes, tooling or repair techniques.
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, and other team members to support day-to-day technical operations.
- Interface with OEMs or customers for technical clarifications related to component repair processes.
- Coordinate with the Equipment Maintenance team as needed to ensure process equipment readiness.
- Team Leadership:
- Support training and knowledge sharing initiatives to improve technical competency and process compliances
- Provide technical guidance and support to technician and operations personnel during repair and overhaul activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 1 - 3 years of relevant engineering experience in aerospace, manufacturing, repair engineering, maintenance engineering, or related technical environment. Fresh graduate with relevant internship or industrial training experience maybe considered.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing, technical manuals, specifications, and process documentation.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft systems, aerospace components, and repair methodologies.
- Ability to analyze technical data, identify issues and provide recommendations under guidance.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements such as AS9100, CAAM, EASA & FAA is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies
- Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Familiar with manufacturing processes, special processes, tooling, or fixture design is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications is an added advantage.
