Our client is one of the largest fund management companies in Malaysia and currently is looking for a Fixed Income Specialist. This role will report To Head, Fixed Income.

Job Purpose/Summary

Assume primary responsibility for the management and performance of domestic and global fixed income portfolios across the organization Proprietary, ASNB Unit Trust Funds and Client Funds. Applies deep fixed income expertise and market experience to deliver senior investment judgment, insight and constructive challenge in support of fixed income discussions and investment governance. Recognized as a fixed income subject-matter specialist in complex portfolio and market matters.

• Formulate strategies and manage fixed income portfolios across domestic and global markets, including sub-asset class allocation, duration positioning, credit exposure and geographic allocation, in line with approved mandates and risk parameters.
• Apply macroeconomic, policy and market analysis to make informed active portfolio positioning, tactical allocation decisions and ongoing risk management, drawing on specialist market insight.
• Champion innovation and development of new fixed income products/solutions/strategies aligned to long-term objectives, to optimize risk-adjusted returns across market cycles.
• Strategise, implement and manage hedging strategies, overlays and alternative fixed income instruments, applying specialist judgment to manage portfolio risks and enhance returns.
• Advise and synthesize deep knowledge to the Fixed Income EFM unit with respect to outsourcing fixed income strategies in achieving the funds’ objectives.
• Analyze fixed income instruments and make appropriate investment recommendations through fixed income market selection, currency selection, duration management/yield curve management to support investment decisions.
• Contribute to critical enterprise-level and investment division projects, coordinate with internal teams and across business units, and provide input on various areas to enhance operational efficiency, innovation and knowledge across enterprise.
• Represent Fixed Income as senior personnel in engagements with external and internal stakeholders and lead relationship-building efforts with issuers, panel brokers, external asset managers, and fund owners to support deal sourcing, secure strong deal allocations and enhance investment opportunities.

• Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree and/or its equivalent in either Finance, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience, in a Fixed Income function such as credit analysis and fixed income portfolio management. Proven and extensive experience in fixed income strategy, portfolio management or related senior investment roles, across domestic and global fixed income markets, including sovereign, quasi-sovereign and credit segments.
• Minimum 12 years relevant experience, in a Fixed Income function such as credit analysis, fixed income portfolio management.
• Deep expertise across domestic and global fixed income markets, spanning sovereign, quasi‑sovereign and credit instruments, with strong capabilities in portfolio construction, hedging, risk management, and investment analysis.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, skill and knowledge in investment and portfolio management.
• High integrity and work ethics.
• High commitment in performing fiduciary duties and responsibility.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work and lead in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment.
• Persistent and proactive.
• CFA certification will be an added advantage.
• Upon employment, staff need to possess a fund manager’s representative license (CMSRL) as per statutory requirement.
