Job Description

Responsibilities

Salary up to RM 7,000/Month

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytically driven Power BI Specialist to join our Insurance Analytics practice. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that support actuarial, underwriting, and risk management functions. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, insurance domain knowledge, and visual storytelling — enabling stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions across the insurance value chain.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support insurance analytics functions including risk assessment, claims analysis, underwriting performance, and actuarial reporting.

• Translate complex insurance data and statistical trends into clear, interactive visualizations that enable strategic decision-making by non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to understand reporting requirements and ensure data models accurately reflect business logic.

• Develop and manage data models within Power BI (star schema, relationships, calculated columns, and measures) using DAX to support insurance KPIs and financial metrics.

• Connect to and consolidate data from multiple sources including SQL databases, Azure data services, Excel, and actuarial model outputs to create unified reporting layers.

• Support the development and maintenance of actuarial and risk reporting pipelines by transforming raw insurance data into structured, report-ready datasets using Power Query.

• Conduct data quality validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance of reported figures.

• Document report specifications, data lineage, DAX logic, and assumptions to maintain transparency and support audit requirements.

• Partner with IT and data engineering teams to optimize data refresh schedules, manage

Power BI workspaces, and govern content publication via Power BI Service.

• Identify opportunities to automate recurring actuarial and operational reports, reducing manual effort and improving turnaround times.

• Present dashboard prototypes and analytical findings to senior stakeholders, incorporating feedback through iterative development cycles.

• Monitor industry trends in insurance analytics and BI tooling to continuously enhance reporting capabilities and predictive modeling visualization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and above in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
