Job Overview

(Summary of position/ Overall responsibility)

The Road Senior Solution Design Engineer is responsible for evaluating customer transport inquiries and RFQ requirements to engineer efficient, scalable, and cost-effective road freight solutions. This role acts as a critical strategic bridge by connecting Commercial Sales, Operations, and external vendors to transform raw customer data into actionable, profitable logistics models that align with company product offerings.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

(Key tasks)

• RFQ Assessment & Scoping
  
  
  

Review and interpret customer transport inquiries and complex RFQ requirements, accurately define project scopes, constraints, and operational targets.

• Data Analysis
  
  
  

Clean, structure, and analyze historical customer shipment data to identify volume trends, geographical lanes, seasonality, and optimization opportunities.

• Transport Engineering
  
  
  

Design and engineer optimized transport solutions, including route planning, milk-runs, distribution networks, and fleet utilization strategies.

• Technical & Commercial Modeling
  
  
  

Develop detailed technical proposals and accurate commercial costing architectures that balance market competitiveness with company profitability guidelines.

• Cross-Functional Facilitation
  
  
  

Act as the primary liaison between Sales and Operations to ensure all engineered solutions are logistically viable, operationally practical, and commercially profitable.

• Vendor Alignment
  
  
  

Partner and communicate effectively with third-party logistics vendors to evaluate capabilities, secure capacity, and align costs with customer requirements.

Qualifications

(Skills, knowledge, and on-the-job abilities required to carry out the job proficiently)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience or a strong foundational background in logistics/transport operations is preferred. Candidates should possess a basic to solid understanding of daily transport planning, logistics solution design, or freight pricing models.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) and MS PowerPoint for creating data-driven presentations.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Apps) is highly preferred.
• IT-savvy with a proactive willingness to adopt and leverage AI tools to automate day-to-day workflows and improve overall operational efficiency.
• Strong geographical knowledge of Malaysia, its major industrial hubs, and regional road networks.
• Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficient command of other languages (e.g., Mandarin) is considered an advantage.
• Strong customer-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze unstructured, incomplete customer data and translate into clear, logical business solutions
• An agile approach to problem-solving, with a keen understanding of cost drivers, margins, and business profitability.
• Ability to multitask, manage multiple customer inquiries simultaneously, and thrive under pressure within a fast-paced logistics environment.
