Role Summary
You’ll translate client needs into thoughtful, buildable design solutions—owning projects from concept through construction. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, project managers, design innovation team, contract team, and contractors to deliver on scope, budget, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Leadership
- Lead the conceptualization and development of innovative interior design solutions.
- Translate client briefs into compelling spatial narratives and experiences.
- Guide the design vision across projects, ensuring consistency, originality, and alignment with brand values.
- Stay updated with global design trends, materials, technologies, and sustainability best practices.
2. Project Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept to completion.
- Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure design timelines and budgets are met.
- Supervise and review work produced by junior designers and design teams.
3. Client Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact for clients on design matters.
- Present design concepts, mood boards, and final presentations to clients and stakeholders.
- Interpret client feedback and incorporate it meaningfully into the design.
- Build strong client relationships through trust, communication, and creative insight.
4. Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including graphic designers, architects, strategists, and engineers.
- Provide creative direction and mentorship to junior designers.
- Encourage open idea sharing and elevate the creative output of the team.
- Review design deliverables and provide constructive feedback.
5. Technical Oversight
- Oversee the preparation of detailed drawings, specifications, material boards, and construction documents.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with external consultants, vendors, and contractors for technical execution.
- Perform site visits to review construction and provide on-site design direction when needed.
6. Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to design strategies aligned with the company's vision and project objectives.
- Support business development efforts by contributing to pitches, proposals, and presentations.
- Participate in workshops, charrettes, and client visioning sessions.
- Promote design excellence and contribute to the studio's culture of creativity and innovation.
Academic Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
Skills & Experience
- 6-8 years of experience in ID for Senior Interior Designer role.
- 3-6 years of experience in ID for Interior Designer role.
- 2-3 years of experience in ID for Assistant Designer role.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong space planning, detailing, and workplace case studies.
- Software: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape/V-Ray, Adobe CC (Photoshop/Illustrator).
- Excellent communication in English & Bahasa Malaysia.
- Comfortable with client presentations and fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Willing to travel for site works and after-hours coordination when required.
