Job Summary

The Fire Watcher is responsible for monitoring hot work activities such as welding, cutting, and grinding to prevent fire hazards and ensure a safe working environment. The role involves maintaining constant vigilance, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and taking immediate action during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor hot work activities and surrounding areas for potential fire hazards.
• Ensure Hot Work Permit requirements and safety procedures are followed.
• Keep fire extinguishers and firefighting equipment readily available and in good condition.
• Remove or report combustible materials and unsafe conditions within the work area.
• Maintain continuous communication with welders, supervisors, and safety personnel.
• Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are identified.
• Raise the alarm and initiate emergency response procedures in the event of fire.
• Remain on standby during and after completion of hot work to ensure no smoldering materials or fire risks remain.
• Record and report any incidents, hazards, or observations to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or HSE department.

Requirements

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
• Fresh candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of fire prevention and workplace safety.
• Possession of Fire Watcher or safety-related certification is an added advantage.
• Able to work at construction, oil & gas, or industrial project sites.
• Physically fit and able to work extended hours when required.
• Good communication skills and ability to respond quickly during emergencies.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Hot Work Permit procedures.
• Familiarity with the use of portable fire extinguishers.
• Ability to identify hazards and maintain high safety awareness.
• Team player with a strong sense of responsibility.
