Job Purpose
The Material & Production Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring material availability and production schedules to ensure on-time delivery, optimum inventory levels, and efficient utilization of production resources. The role acts as a key liaison between Sales, Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Suppliers to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning
- Analyze customer forecasts, sales orders, and production requirements to determine material needs.
- Generate and maintain Material Requirement Planning (MRP) schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to expedite critical materials and resolve shortages.
- Track supplier delivery performance and support supplier communication regarding material commitments.
- Review and manage safety stock levels for key components and raw materials.
Production Planning
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Align production plans with customer delivery requirements and production capacity.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors to optimize machine utilization and manpower allocation.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changing priorities.
- Ensure production plans are communicated effectively across relevant departments.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose corrective actions to maintain production efficiency.
Inventory & Warehouse Coordination
- Monitor inventory accuracy and support cycle count activities.
- Analyze slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory.
- Work closely with Warehouse personnel to ensure timely material issuance and replenishment.
- Support inventory optimization initiatives and cost reduction programs.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Liaise with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Production teams to support new product introductions and customer demand changes.
- Participate in production meetings and provide updates on material status and production plans.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare production planning and inventory reports for management review.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as:
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Inventory Turnover
- Production Schedule Adherence
- Material Availability
- Forecast Accuracy
- Analyze planning data and recommend improvements to enhance operational performance.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in production planning, material planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
- Experience in manufacturing or electronics manufacturing environment is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of MRP, ERP systems, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Understanding of production processes and supply chain principles.
- Knowledge of ISO, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement practices is an advantage.
Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
