SECONDARY TEACHER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma, Professional Certificate/Qualification in Education/Teaching
- Advanced knowledge and teaching skills in teaching subjects at a high school level
- Possessing a good grasp of English - both written and spoken
- Able to teach from our curriculum which has a Biblical world view
- Able to keep up with the fast-paced and demanding nature of children
- Able to deal with challenging situations
- Possessing the ability to be "teachable" - being willing to grow and learn as a teacher

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attendance, promptness, and commitment are necessary and expected
- Use technology in class (and for remote learning) to support and facilitate learning
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons that ensure the students’ overall progress and well-being
- Manage students’ behavior
- Prepare lesson plans with individual objectives, action points, and strategies for each student
- Develop and implement IEPs
- Teach or TA elective courses
- Keep assigned supervision duties
- Participate in organizing and preparing for various UPWARD LEARNING performances and events such as Family Days, Sports Days, field trips, etc
- Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress; produce quarterly report cards
- Keep up-to-date on all records, documentation, and reports using UPWARD LEARNING-approved platforms
- Facilitate communication with parents, including regular parent-teacher meetings
- Attend all necessary meetings, training, functions, reviews, etc.
- Maintain student safety standards and practices
- Follow all standards and procedures used by UPWARD LEARNING
- UPWARD LEARNING recognizes that the above may need to be completed outside scheduled working hours
Operational Expectations
- Deliver lessons in accordance to curriculum content, agreed standards and stipulated timeframe.
- Adhere to Centre academic calendar and other event/activity schedule
- Create positive classroom environment conducive for learning
- Promote good classroom dynamics
- Proper time management
- Review and agree on set instructional goals, objectives, standards and methods with teacher team
- Undertake the development, modification of teaching instructions/ strategies to adapt to individual needs
- Provide advice and instructions for improvement
- Collaborate and support other teachers; be a team player
- Engage in at least one of our community engagement outreach programs.
- Follow Centre guidelines on dress code, discipline, and conduct
Public engagement expectations
- Teacher parent meetings
- Open Day, Parent teacher meeting and conference
- Periodic events, community projects, after school activities
Supervision Responsibilities
- Maintain order in and outside classroom
- Attend to disciplinary issues with help of the Discipline teacher
- Ensure Centre's policies especially safety and health policies are adhered to
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, resources, equipment and facilities
- Oversee classroom performance of TA
Administration Expectations
- Timely preparation or submission of students' academic records, grades, IEPs
- Filing of all necessary documentation - incident report, resource requisition, etc
- Proper recording of use of resource and curriculum
- Adhere to all administrative regulations
- Attend weekly teachers’ meeting, other meetings as required
- Review and formulate improved work processes

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
