Responsibilities

About the Client:

Our client operates in the beauty, wellness, and health products sector, with business activities covering the trading, importing, exporting, distribution, marketing, and direct sales of beauty and personal care products.

About the Role:

The Finance Executive will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of finance and accounting activities for the Malaysia entity. As the sole finance representative in Malaysia, this role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, statutory compliance, treasury management, and coordination with external stakeholders including auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, banks, and government authorities.

The Finance Executive will work closely with the finance team based in Taiwan to ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain full set of accounts for the Malaysia entity.
  • Process and record accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and financial schedules for submission to regional and global finance teams.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices, employee claims, and payment requests.
  • Prepare payment runs and ensure timely settlement of obligations.
  • Monitor customer collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor and customer accounts.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Monitor daily cash positions and banking activities.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and support working capital management.
  • Coordinate bank transactions, account maintenance, and banking documentation.
  • Ensure adequate controls over cash and payment processes.

Statutory Compliance & Taxation

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare information required for SST, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and other regulatory filings where applicable.
  • Liaise with external tax agents and advisors on tax matters.
  • Support annual statutory audit and tax audit exercises.
  • Coordinate with company secretary on corporate compliance matters.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting exercises.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Support regional finance teams in financial planning activities.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Implement and maintain appropriate financial controls and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal finance policies and approval workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline finance processes.
  • Support implementation of finance systems and process enhancements as the company grows.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary finance contact for the Malaysia entity.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders across Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support to management.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
  • Experience handling full set accounts independently.
  • Experience working with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting, tax, and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills in English, Mandarin and Bahasa, both written and verbal.
