Responsibilities

Position Description:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the management and continuous improvement of supplier quality performance across the Group supply base.

Acting as a key interface between Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Production and suppliers, the role focuses on supplier qualification, supplier performance monitoring, non-conformity management, supplier development and continuous improvement activities.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for reviewing supplier quality issues, evaluating supplier root cause analyses and corrective actions, and driving timely resolution of supplier related quality concerns. The role requires the ability to assess supplier performance trends, identify risks, challenge ineffective responses and support the implementation of sustainable improvements.

The Supplier Quality Engineer contributes to supplier qualification and re assessment activities through the technical evaluation of supplier capabilities, quality management systems, manufacturing processes and associated risks. The role also contributes to the development and maintenance of supplier quality processes, procedures, metrics and reporting tools.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for evaluating the Cost of Poor Quality associated with supplier non-conformities, including the assessment of direct and indirect costs incurred by the business. The role supports and justifies supplier compensation claims by providing objective evidence of the impact of supplier related failures, ensuring that claims are technically substantiated, properly documented and communicated to suppliers.

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and periodically reviewing the methodologies, cost models and cost matrices used to assess supplier related non-conformity costs. The role provides guidance and technical support to Supplier Quality Coordinators in the consistent application of these tools, supports the evaluation of complex cases and ensures that supplier compensation claims are supported by robust and consistent cost assessment criteria.

The Supplier Quality Engineer may participate in supplier assessments and audits, either remotely or on site when required, and is responsible for ensuring that findings, actions and improvement plans are effectively managed and followed through to completion.

Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, the Supplier Quality Engineer contributes to the development of a high performing and reliable supply chain aligned with company quality requirements and business objectives.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional certifications related to Quality Management, Supplier Quality, Auditing, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies are considered advantageous.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering or a related technical role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience in supplier non-conformity management, root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
  • Experience in the evaluation and monitoring of supplier performance through KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Experience supporting supplier qualification, supplier assessment or supplier development activities.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and the application of ISO 9001 principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material processing and quality control methods.
  • Experience supporting supplier assessments, supplier audits or supplier quality improvement activities would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the evaluation of supplier related quality costs, Cost of poor quality methodologies or supplier compensation claims would be advantageous.
  • Experience within the oil and gas industry or other highly regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
