Job Description

Responsibilities

Project Engineer 6 months contract (extendable) - Rig Structural Repairs

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering and Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects from conception through completion, with a specific focus on structural repair and modification of offshore and onshore rigs. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional coordination skills, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage engineering projects related to structural repair and modification of rigs, ensuring alignment with project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Serve as the primary interface and coordinator between all key stakeholders, including project owners, clients, engineering teams, shipyards, vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, including scope definition, work breakdown structure (WBS), scheduling, and cost estimation
  • Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets; identify risks and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate procurement activities and vendor management,ensuring quality standards and delivery schedules are met
  • Facilitate and conduct technical meetings with cross-functionalteams to resolve design, engineering, and operational challenges
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, reports, and change management records
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) regulations, and company policies
  • Establish and maintain project baselines (scope, schedule, and budget), clearly identify all outstanding tasks and work packages, and ensure rigorous tracking and closure of scope items against approved baselines
  • Manage all aspects of shipyard project operations, including coordination with shipyard management, understanding shipyard workflows, resource allocation, sequencing of work activities, and adherence toshipyard-specific constraints and safety protocols
  • Understand and manage rig maintenance and preservation requirements during stacked (dormant) and non-operational modes, including OEM preservation protocols, compliance with preservation standards, and preparation activities for return-to-service commissioning
  • Manage project interfaces with external service providers, shipyards, and construction contractors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • 3–4 years of professional experience as a Project Engineer or ina similar project management role within the oil & gas industry
  • Demonstrated experience with structural repair and/or modification projects on offshore or onshore rigs
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, industry standards (API, DNV, ABS), and regulatory frameworks applicable to oil &gas operations
  • Proven experience working in or managing projects within shipyard environments; strong understanding of shipyard operations, workflows, resource planning, scheduling constraints, and maritime construction processes
  • Familiarity with rig maintenance and preservation procedures during stacked and non-operational periods, including knowledge of OEM requirements, preservation standards, commissioning readiness criteria, andreturn-to-service protocols
  • Strong capability in establishing project baselines, work breakdown structures, and managing outstanding tasks and scope items with clear documentation and closure procedures
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with technical documentation, CAD software (AutoCAD, or equivalent), and data management systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification (Optional)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Petroleum Engineer (PEng) license (Optional)
  • Experience working with shipyards or marine construction environments
  • Familiarity with offshore HSE procedures and international maritime regulations
