OverviewYou will join our High-Rise & Complex Buildings Department. As our new Project Manager, you will be part of our global High-Rise department, Ramboll’s dedicated team of high-rise experts which have designed over 150 tall building projects globally, including some of the most technically challenging. You would be responsible to coordinate with project managers and/or engineers for Analysis and Design work in the High-Rise department.
Role overviewLead and drive delivery of a portfolio of building projects i.e. residential, commercial, mixed‑use, institutional, etc. across Malaysia. You will be accountable for project performance (schedule, budget, quality, safety), client relationships, commercial outcomes and technical integrity, while developing the Buildings team and contributing to the practice’s growth strategy.
Key responsibilities
- End‑to‑end leadership of multiple medium-to-large building projects from pre‑construction to handover and post‑occupancy support.
- Project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, commercial negotiations, variations and claims.
- Ensure timely billing and proactive collection management to maintain healthy cashflow; coordinate with finance to resolve invoicing issues and drive receivable recovery.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and contractors; lead technical design reviews and approvals.
- Provide technical direction for civil, structural, façade, MEP interfaces, foundations and complex buildability issues.
- Oversee programme management across projects; identify critical path, mitigate delays and re‑optimise resources.
- Ensure strict compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements (UBBL, MS, local authority processes, DOSH) and Ramboll quality standards.
- Implement robust risk management, HSE and QA/QC systems; drive continuous improvement and lessons‑learned processes.
- Champion digital delivery: BIM (Revit, Navisworks, clash detection), digital workflows and information management.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, build capability within the Buildings team and promote knowledge sharing.
- Prepare and present project and portfolio reports, dashboards and strategic updates to senior management and clients.
Required qualifications & experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Approximately 12 years’ relevant professional experience with a strong track record of managing building projects; minimum 8 years in a PM role.
- Proven experience delivering projects in Malaysia with familiarity of local statutory approvals and construction practices.
- Demonstrable experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams, negotiating complex contracts and achieving commercial targets.
Technical skills & tools
- Strong technical knowledge of common building systems (RC, steel, composite), envelopes, refurbishment methods, basements and foundation solutions.
- Practical construction methodology and buildability understanding.
- Proficient in BIM workflows (Revit, Navisworks) and project tools (Primavera/MS Project, MS Office).
- Competent in contract administration and commercial management.
