About the role
We are seeking an experienced Group Accountant to join SC Estate Builder Berhad on a full-time basis, based in Selangor. This is a strategic position within our Finance department that plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial management across the group. As Group Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing group-wide accounting operations, consolidating financial statements, and providing critical financial insights that support informed decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation. This role requires a meticulous professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across different business units.
What you'll be doing
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review group consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and financial reports in compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), relevant accounting standards, and group accounting policies.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities for the group, including consolidation, inter-company reconciliations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting working papers.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of quarterly reports, annual reports, announcements, board papers, and other financial disclosures in compliance with Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, Companies Act 2016, tax regulations, and other statutory and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with subsidiaries, business units, external auditors, internal auditors, tax agents, company secretary, sponsors/advisers, and other relevant parties to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Review related-party transactions, intercompany transactions, consolidation adjustments, and accounting treatments for complex transactions, including property development revenue recognition, construction contracts, and lease accounting.
Liaise with external auditors throughout the audit planning, execution, and finalisation process, and assist in resolving audit, accounting, tax, and compliance matters.
Conduct variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial analysis to support management decision-making and strategic planning.
Assist in corporate governance reporting, risk management, internal controls, and the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and finance process improvements.
Identify and resolve accounting issues, discrepancies, and reporting matters across group entities.
Assist in corporate exercises, regulatory submissions, merger and acquisition proposals, and other management assignments that may benefit the company.
What we're looking for
Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, or equivalent recognised qualification
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably in a group accounting environment
Strong knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and other relevant accounting standards
Proven experience in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and group accounts
Experience in the property development or real estate industry is highly desirable
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, particularly ERP systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Sound knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements
Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics in all dealings
