Position: Planning Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to join our project team in Selangor. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure the timely delivery of construction projects while meeting quality, cost, and safety objectives.
The Planning Engineer will work closely with project managers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to provide accurate planning, progress tracking, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Prepare baseline programmes, recovery plans, catch-up schedules, and look-ahead plans.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify potential delays and risks.
- Conduct critical path analysis and recommend mitigation measures to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Coordinate with project managers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather progress updates.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and management presentations.
- Track project productivity, resource allocation, and earned value metrics.
- Review subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with the master programme.
- Assist in extension of time (EOT) claims preparation and delay analysis.
- Support tender planning by developing preliminary construction programmes and resource plans.
- Participate in project meetings and provide schedule updates and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and project specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in planning and scheduling within the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor.
- Experience in industrial building, data centre, semiconductor, commercial, or high-rise projects will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project controls, and scheduling techniques.
- Familiarity with delay analysis, EOT claims, and critical path method (CPM).
- Good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations and contract forms will be an advantage.
