JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible for managing cost estimation, cost control, and cost reporting for renewable energy projects. The role ensures accurate project budgeting, cost monitoring, and financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle, while supporting commercial decisions and contract management.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of project and development costs to ensure proper establishment and approval. This includes managing budgets, pre-construction cost estimates, pre-tender estimates, contract sums, and deviations/change orders. Prepare and present regular management reports on cost status, and drive project budget tracking by establishing cost centers and codes.
- Lead cost analysis for past projects and maintain cost databanks for future cost modeling. Utilize historical data to improve cost forecasting and project financial planning. Conduct financial efficiency audits and optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Supervise and support the preparation of tenders, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and other procurement documents. Lead the evaluation and recommendation of tenders or proposals with relevant stakeholders. Establish commercial evaluation criteria and drive rationalization of rates and pricing.
- Prepare regular cost reports, variance analyses, and recommendations for management review and provide input during project risk assessment and propose cost-related mitigation strategies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects, including claims and contractual disputes. Develop and draft contractual correspondence and implement risk response strategies. Maintain claims and dispute registers while overseeing cost-related risk management throughout the project life cycle.
- Oversee and coordinate the processing of payment applications from vendors, including preparing payment certificates and tracking payment status. Ensure smooth coordination of payment processes with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and maintaining optimal cash flow.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCES
Formal Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, CIQS, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Skills / Knowledge/ Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in cost management, preferably in the renewable energy, power, or infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience in leading project cost control, budgeting, and contract management initiatives.
- Expertise in cost estimation, tender evaluations, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive strategic decision-making.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication abilities to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Experience in planning budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations, and optimizing financial performance.
