Job Title: Facilities I&C Engineer (Instrumentation & Control)
Location: Penang, Malaysia
Industry: Electronic Manufacturing

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Facilities I&C Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of instrumentation and control systems across our advanced electronic manufacturing facility and on-site Data Center in Penang. This role ensures the accuracy, reliability, and integration of sensors, monitoring devices, control loops, and automation systems that are critical to the performance of HVAC, mechanical utilities, electrical systems, and environmental monitoring infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the operation, calibration, and maintenance of facility instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature controllers, and analysers.

Oversee and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS), Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS), and SCADA platforms to ensure accurate real-time monitoring and control.

Ensure seamless integration of instrumentation for HVAC, CDA, PCW, PVAC, chilled water, electrical distribution, and cleanroom environmental systems.

Develop, validate and implement innovative solutions through the utilization of engineering principles.

Develop, evaluate and implement Standard Operating Procedures and performance measures to ensure simplification and accuracy of work methods and reliability of systems.

Conducts feasibility, cost, optimization, stress, fluids, and thermal analyses.

Plans, develops, conducts and administers Testing and Commissioning, and other experimental simulations.

Interface directly with clients to identify and analyse critical needs, define problems, and develop specifications to guide the solution process.

Support Data Center monitoring systems including temperature, humidity, power usage, and leak detection sensors.

Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance programs for I&C equipment to ensure high system reliability and minimal downtime.

Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for instrumentation and control-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal engineering teams for system upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning activities.

Maintain accurate documentation including control logic diagrams, loop drawings, calibration records, and maintenance logs.

Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements, EHS guidelines, and relevant international standards.

Identify and implement system automation and optimization opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce energy usage, and enhance operational performance.

Support audits, inspections, and system reliability reviews for manufacturing and Data Center environments.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in facilities I&C engineering within semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing environments - fresh graduates are encouraged to apply

Good knowledge or hands-on experience with BMS, EMS, SCADA, and PLC/DCS systems.

Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation for HVAC, utilities, and cleanroom environments.

Familiarity with calibration standards, control loop tuning, and process automation best practices.

Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control logic schematics.

Proficiency with CMMS platforms (e.g., Maximo) for maintenance tracking.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Able to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment and support 24/7 operations when required.

Preferred Qualifications
Certification in instrumentation calibration or automation systems (e.g., ISA, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider).

Experience integrating Data Center monitoring systems and cleanroom environmental controls.

Exposure to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and energy management systems.

Knowledge of IoT-enabled monitoring, predictive maintenance tools, and data analytics for facilities systems.
