Responsibilities

M&E Quantity Surveyor (QS) – Job Description

Job Summary

The M&E Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works in construction projects. The role involves cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, progress claims, variation orders, and project cost control to ensure projects are completed within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BQ) for M&E works.
  • Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare tender submissions and contract documents.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor claims and payment applications.
  • Prepare progress claims, variation orders (VO), and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Track project budgets and provide regular cost reports.
  • Verify site measurements and completed work quantities.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures.
  • Assist in contract administration and dispute resolution when required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant M&E Quantity Surveying experience (depending on seniority).
  • Knowledge of M&E systems, construction methods, and industry practices.
  • Familiarity with Singapore construction contracts and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of tendering, cost estimation, and contract administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and QS-related software.
  • Good analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of SIA, PSSCOC, or other standard forms of contract.
  • Experience handling both Mechanical and Electrical trade packages.
