Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Designer role based in Akuhaito. The Designer will translate business and product requirements into clear design concepts, from initial sketches and mood boards to detailed layouts and production-ready assets. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing visual designs for vehicle interiors and exteriors, marketing materials, digital interfaces, and product collateral in line with Perodua’s brand and safety standards. The role involves collaborating closely with engineers, product teams, and marketing to refine concepts, iterate on feedback, and ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing and aligned with user needs. The Designer will also support design reviews, maintain design libraries and guidelines, and contribute ideas that enhance sustainability, user experience, and overall product quality.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in visual design and product/industrial design, including sketching, layout, and composition.
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Sketch, CAD or 3D modeling tools relevant to automotive or product design).
  • Experience applying user-centered design principles, conducting basic user research, and incorporating feedback into iterative design improvements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and quality assurance.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work within brand guidelines while contributing creative, practical design solutions.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly explain design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
