Patching & Deployment Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end patching and deployment lifecycle across enterprise endpoints (Windows physical, virtual, and VDI).
- Execute and improve release and deployment processes aligned with ITIL (Incident, Change, Release, Problem management).
- Manage and optimize deployments using: Tanium
o Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM)
o VMware App Volumes for application delivery
- Perform patch compliance monitoring, reporting, and remediation (last-mile fixes).
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure on-time execution of release schedules.
- Troubleshoot deployment failures and drive root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
- Implement automation for patching, deployment, and reporting using scripting and APIs.
- Ensure security compliance by addressing vulnerabilities and patch gaps.
- Analyze logs and telemetry (e.g., Splunk) to identify trends and improve deployment success rates.
- Support VDI environments (Horizon) including application layering and optimization.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including zero-touch patching models.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience in endpoint patching and application deployment in enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with:
o VMware App Volumes
o Tanium (Deploy/Patch modules)
o MECM / SCCM
o Splunk (monitoring, log analysis)
- Scripting and automation:
o PowerShell (mandatory)
o Python (automation/reporting use cases)
o Windows 10/11 OS and desktop engineering
o Active Directory
o Application packaging and deployment techniques
o Horizon (VDI / remote desktop infrastructure) products
o CI/CD concepts and release pipelines
o Software packaging, testing, and rollback strategies
o VMware infrastructure and Windows server environments
Experience Required:
- 5+ years in desktop engineering or endpoint management roles.
- Demonstrated experience in:
o Enterprise patching at scale (thousands of endpoints)
o Remote software deployment
o Release and deployment management
- Experience working in regulated / high-compliance environments preferred.
