Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Hardware Design Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team in Penang. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and development of embedded electronic hardware for a wide range of industries, including industrial, healthcare, and consumer electronics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the product development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Design and develop electronic circuitry and embedded systems, including schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout definition using industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer)
- Design Analysis: Implement best practices for Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), and EMI mitigation. Analyze circuit designs using simulation tools and perform detailed hardware measurements using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and logic analyzers
- Debugging & Testing: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in PCBA debugging and troubleshooting throughout the product development cycle. Ensure the platform powers on and operates correctly in the lab environment
- Documentation & Transition: Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, specifications, BOMs). Support design transition to manufacturing and ensure successful product releases
- Collaboration: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams including software, mechanical, firmware, and test engineers to review and improve hardware designs
- Language Support: Act as the primary technical liaison for projects involving Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and partners
Qualifications & Requirement
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in embedded systems hardware design (experience levels may vary based on seniority)
- Technical Skill
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, Altium Designer
- Solid knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers/microprocessors, and digital communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, USB)
- Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (DDR, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet) is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of power supply design (DC-DC) and analog signal conditioning is preferred
- Experience with FPGA/CPLD design and HDL languages (Verilog, VHDL) is a plus
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and debugging skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-cultural team
- Language: Fluent in Mandarin (written and spoken) to effectively communicate with counterparts in China/Taiwan. Proficient in English for internal documentation and team communication
Salary Range: 4000 RM - 8000RM
