Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Commis/Demi Chef role based in Singapore at RUSTICA. The Commis/Demi Chef will assist in daily food preparation, cooking, and plating of menu items, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation in line with the restaurant’s modern Singaporean concept. Responsibilities include mise en place, maintaining cleanliness and organization of workstations, following recipes and standards, and supporting senior chefs during service. The role also involves proper storage and rotation of ingredients, adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations, and contributing to menu development by sharing ideas and feedback. The Commis/Demi Chef will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Qualifications

  • Foundational culinary skills, including basic knife work, cooking techniques, and mise en place preparation.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety standards, and cleanliness practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and plating standards with attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented mindset, effective communication, and willingness to support colleagues during busy service periods.
  • Interest in Singaporean cuisine, local ingredients, and sustainable culinary practices.
  • Prior experience in a professional kitchen or completion of a culinary course/diploma is an advantage.
  • Ability to work full-time shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
