As part of its continued expansion in Malaysia, the company is seeking a Pressing Engineer to support process excellence, manufacturing optimization, and new product introduction activities within its new Johor Bahru manufacturing facility.
Candidates from powder metallurgy, metal powder compaction, precision pressed components, magnets, hard metals, ceramics, automotive components, bearings, gears, filters, or similar industries are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize powder pressing and compaction processes to achieve quality, productivity, and cost targets.
- Provide technical support to production teams on process, tooling, equipment, and quality-related issues.
- Develop, validate, and implement new products, manufacturing processes, and process improvements.
- Analyze production data and identify opportunities to improve yield, cycle time, OEE, and process capability.
- Troubleshoot defects related to powder filling, compaction, density variation, cracking, dimensional control, and tooling wear.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process stability, automation, and operational excellence.
- Work closely with Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, Production, and R&D teams during product development and production ramp-up.
- Support PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PPAP, APQP, and other customer quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and engineering standards.
- Evaluate and implement improvements to presses, tooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct operator and technician training on process controls and best practices.
- Support equipment commissioning, qualification, and capacity expansion projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in powder pressing, powder metallurgy, metal powder compaction, precision pressing, or similar manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic presses, mechanical presses, servo presses, or automated pressing equipment.
- Experience with tooling, die design, punch systems, and process parameter optimization.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and manufacturing quality systems is advantageous.
- Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments preferred.
