Job Title: Facilities Operation Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a competent and all-rounded Facilities Operation Engineer to lead shift operations in a high-demand electronic manufacturing environment. This role will act as the Building In-Charge, responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of overall facility systems during assigned shifts.
The candidate is required to have fundamental knowledge across Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems to effectively guide technicians and support daily operations.
This role will have direct ownership of Domestic Systems, Lift Systems, and Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS), while coordinating closely with discipline engineers (Electrical, Mechanical, I&C).
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & Operations
Lead and supervise shift technicians to ensure smooth execution of daily facilities operations.
Act as the overall shift in-charge and building owner during assigned shift.
Provide first-level technical guidance across Electrical, Mechanical, I&C, Domestic, Lift, and FLSS systems.
Ensure proper shift handover, reporting, and operational continuity.
System Ownership (Core Responsibility)
Take full ownership of:
Domestic systems (PBA water supply, tanks, pumps, plumbing, drainage)
Lift/Elevator systems
Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS) – fire alarm, sprinkler, fire pumps, suppression systems, emergency lighting
Ensure these systems are properly maintained, compliant and fully operational at all times.
Coordinate preventive maintenance, breakdown response, and vendor support for these systems.
All-Rounded Facilities Oversight
Maintain overall awareness and operational control of:
Electrical systems (LV, UPS, genset)
Mechanical systems (Wet & Dry System)
Instrumentation & Control (BMS, EMS, SCADA)
Support technicians in troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to respective discipline engineers.
Building In-Charge Responsibility
Serve as the primary person responsible for the building during shift operations.
Respond to system alarms, abnormalities, and emergency situations (including fire incidents).
Ensure safety, compliance, and minimal disruption to operations.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance Support
Lead first-level troubleshooting across all facilities systems.
Guide technicians in executing preventive and corrective maintenance.
Ensure timely closure of issues with proper escalation when required.
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and I&C Engineers for technical support and system issues.
Coordinate with vendors for lift, FLSS, and domestic systems maintenance.
Liaise with authorities (DOSH, BOMBA, local authorities) when required.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with Malaysian statutory requirements (DOSH, BOMBA, local authorities).
Enforce EHS policies, permit-to-work system, and safe working practices.
Support audits, inspections, and emergency drills.
Reporting & Escalation
Prepare shift reports, incident reports, and system status updates.
Escalate critical issues with clear technical information and recommendations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, I&C or Facilities Engineering.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in facilities or building operations.
All-rounded fundamental knowledge in:
Electrical systems
Mechanical systems
Instrumentation & Control (I&C)
Domestic/building systems
Fire Life Safety Systems (FLSS)
Proven experience in leading shift technicians or acting as shift/building in-charge.
Strong troubleshooting and coordination skills across multiple systems.
Ability to guide technicians and escalate effectively to discipline engineers.
Familiar with Malaysian regulatory requirements (DOSH, BOMBA, local authorities).
Willing to work on emergency/on-call support if needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Chargeman certification (AO/A1/A4) is an added advantage.
Experience in electronic manufacturing or high-tech facilities environment.
Basic knowledge of BMS/CMMS systems.
Hands-on experience in FLSS, lift, or domestic system management.
