Batik Boutique is an award-winning Malaysian social enterprise that empowers artisans in Malaysia through training and employment. We create and sell modern batik apparel, gifts, and accessories through retail boutiques, online channels, and corporate partnerships.
We are seeking a hands-on Retail Operations Manager to lead the performance, customer experience, and operational standards of our retail stores.
Position Summary
The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for the overall success of Batik Boutique’s retail operations across multiple locations.
This role focuses on leading and developing retail staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining store standards, improving sales performance, and driving accountability through regular coaching, store visits, and performance reviews.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple locations while working closely with frontline staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Development
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train Retail Associates.
- Conduct daily and weekly team check-ins focused on performance, goals, and continuous improvement.
- Coach staff to consistently execute Batik Boutique’s customer service standards and sales process.
- Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback, recognition, and improvement actions.
- Conduct monthly performance reviews and maintain individual staff scorecards.
- Manage scheduling, attendance, leave requests, and workforce planning.
Retail Operations & Store Performance
- Oversee daily operations across all Batik Boutique retail locations.
- Ensure stores consistently meet company standards for cleanliness, presentation, merchandising, and customer experience.
- Conduct regular store visits to inspect operations, coach staff, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor key retail KPIs including sales, conversion, average transaction value, units per transaction, and customer service standards.
- Ensure all retail procedures and company policies are consistently followed.
- Resolve all issues promptly.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare weekly and monthly retail performance reports for management.
- Recommend actions to improve sales, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Support retail-related projects, promotions, events, and new store openings.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of retail management experience, preferably in fashion, lifestyle, gifts, specialty retail, or related industries.
- Experience supervising multiple staff and retail locations is preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Comfortable using POS systems, Excel, and retail management software.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to travel regularly between retail locations in the Klang Valley.
Compensation
- Salary: RM4,000-6,000 depending on experience and performance
