  • Troubleshoot complex hardware, OS, virtualization, networking, and storage issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.
  • Manage file systems, storage allocations, disk partitioning, LVM configurations, volume expansions, and mount-point restructuring.
  • Automate operational tasks using Bash, Python, Perl, or configuration management tools (Ansible preferred).
  • Maintain and improve backup, snapshot, and disaster recovery strategies for Unix and VMware environments.
  • Partner with application, database, and DevOps teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.
  • Document architecture, configurations, SOPs, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach.

Preferred Skills

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
  • Linux Administration Certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE).
  • Experience with Kubernetes containers or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
