We are seeking an experienced PCB Layout Designer / Design Engineer to support the development of advanced VSAT and satellite communication systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, layout, testing, and optimization of electronic circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in satellite communication equipment.
The role requires close collaboration with RF, hardware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical schematics and PCB layouts based on system requirements and engineering specifications.
- Design multi-layer PCB layouts for satellite communications and VSAT products with consideration for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and manufacturability.
- Perform component placement, routing, stack-up definition, and design optimization for signal integrity and manufacturability.
- Support RF and high-frequency circuit layout requirements, including impedance-controlled routing and grounding strategies.
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve design-related manufacturing issues, optimize board performance for satellite communication applications.
- Create and maintain PCB layouts using industry-standard ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, or equivalent.
- Knowledge in using RF simulation CAD such as AWR, HFSS etc
- Generate manufacturing outputs including Gerber files, pick-and-place data, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and design documentation.
- Maintain component libraries and PCB design standards.
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards and company design guidelines.
- Support prototype assembly, bring-up, debugging, and validation activities.
- Conduct circuit testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of design issues.
- Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
- Conduct design reviews and implement engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Work closely with production teams to resolve PCB assembly and to ensure PCB performance meets system requirements.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
- Participate in engineering change processes and continuous product improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of RF design experience.
- Experience in telecommunications, satellite communications, wireless communications, RF systems, networking equipment, or related industries preferred.
- Proven experience designing multi-layer PCBs for complex electronic products.
- Proficient in PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience with multi-layer PCB design, controlled impedance routing, and high-speed signal layout.
- Knowledge of RF design considerations and microwave-frequency PCB layout techniques.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication, assembly processes, and manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
- Familiarity with IPC standards and industry best practices.
- Experience in VSAT, satellite communication, telecommunications infrastructure, or defense industries.
- Familiarity with SSPA, BUC, LNA, Down-Converters, Transceivers or other RF communication systems.
- Knowledge of satellite modem, antenna control, RF front-end, or network communication equipment design.
- Familiarity with environmental and reliability testing requirements.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and product lifecycle management.
