Job Description
Responsibilities
- Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
- Prepare meals according to employers' recipes or tastes, handling all meals for the guests and possibly for other household staff
- Monitor food stock, organize, clean kitchens and cooking utensils
- Shop for or order food and kitchen supplies and equipment
- Serve meals and snacks to guests
- Plan menus according to employers' needs and diet restrictions (e.g. gluten free and vegetarian)
- Plan and prepare food for parties, special functions, and other social events
- Peel, wash, trim, and cook vegetables and meats, and bake breads and pastries
- Direct the operation and organization of kitchens and all food-related activities, including the presentation and serving of food
- Create and explore new cuisines
- Cleaning up and sanitizing
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
- Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
