Steinbeis University - Schools of Next Practices (S-Next) is a Higher Educational Institution in Berlin, Germany that offers state-recognized study and development programs. We offer International Bachelor's, Master's and MBA programs specializing in fields that are most relevant in today's job market.

We're building a small backend team to work closely with our Berlin team. We're hiring deliberately at the junior level because we want to invest in someone curious, fast-learning, and eager to grow. You'll get real ownership early, but with support.

Role Description

As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will learn to design, build, and maintain server-side applications and services that power our digital infrastructure. 

• Work on Python backend services and APIs alongside the two mid-level engineers

• Take ownership of smaller features end-to-end as you grow into the role

• Learn from the rest of the team — both technically and on how to work async with Berlin

• Contribute to code reviews, testing, and team practices

This is a contract, on-site role based in UOA Business Park, in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Qualifications

Must have:

• 0–2 years of professional experience, OR a strong career-changer with demonstrable projects

• Solid Python fundamentals

• Familiarity with Docker (you don't need to be an expert, but you should have used it)

• Strong written and spoken English

• Demonstrably curious — side projects, open-source contributions, or a learning trajectory we can see

Nice to have:

• Some experience with APIs (built one, even a small one)

• Familiarity with Git workflows in a team context

• Have worked or interned in a small team
