Role Description This is an on-site Civil Site Engineer contract role based in Penang, Malaysia mainly for LRT project. The Civil Site Engineer will oversee day-to-day site activities, including supervising construction work, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The role involves coordinating with contractors, consultants, and suppliers, resolving on-site technical issues, and verifying that materials and workmanship comply with approved drawings and standards. The engineer will assist in planning daily work schedules, preparing site reports, documenting site measurements, and supporting project managers with progress updates and inspections. The position also requires regular site walks, participation in site meetings, and proactive identification of risks, delays, or non-conformities.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, structural and architectural drawings, construction sequencing, and site execution practices.
• Ability to manage site supervision, including monitoring contractors, ensuring quality control, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Competence in using basic engineering and construction tools/software (e.g., AutoCAD for drawing review, MS Office for reporting and documentation).
• Experience in preparing site reports, progress updates, quantity take-offs, and maintaining accurate project records and documentation.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for working with project managers, consultants, vendors, authorities, and on-site teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues on-site and propose practical, compliant solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field, with prior experience in building or infrastructure projects preferred.
• Familiarity with local construction codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in Malaysia is an advantage.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Penang, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing project needs and schedules.
