We partner with like-minded individuals and organisations to uphold time-honoured values and nurture healthy family life – because we believe strong families build strong communities.

We are looking for a professional counsellor with a heart for family and marriage counselling to join us as the Counselling Lead. Reporting to the Human Resources Lead, this role leads and strengthens FOFM’s counselling services through direct counselling practice, coordination of our volunteer counsellor team, and development of practical systems, guidelines, and standards that support consistent, ethical, and effective care.

  • Support Management in refining counselling systems, workflows, templates, guidelines, and SOPs.

  • Ensure counselling practices are practical, legally sound, and aligned with organisational needs and counsellor realities.

2.  Volunteer Counsellor Coordination & Case Oversight

  • Serve as the main professional support and liaison for the volunteer counsellor team.
  • Provide strategic oversight of overall counselling caseload, including case distribution, workload balancing, and development of capacity solutions to support growing service needs
  • Oversee case lifecycle management, including case allocation, counselling continuity, documentation quality (e.g. case notes, client records, etc.), referrals, stipend payments and significant case concerns, with support from the counselling admin.
  • Facilitate consistency in counselling processes while respecting counsellors’ professional autonomy.
  • Escalate major counselling, ethical, or service concerns to Management where necessary.

3. Counselling Practice

  • Carry an active counselling caseload, including individual, marriage, couple, family, and youth-related cases.
  • Handle more complex or higher-needs cases where appropriate.
  • Maintain timely and appropriate counselling documentation.
  • Keep abreast of relevant developments, training, and emerging practices especially in marriage and family counselling, and progressively strengthen the organisation’s capability in these areas (e.g. marriage/family intensives, therapy, etc.)

4.   Others

  • Work with the counselling admin to ensure smooth operational execution of counselling services, including scheduling, records management, forms, and follow-up.
  • Prepare counselling updates, statistics and reports as required
  • Participate in internal planning and service development discussions
  • Support ad-hoc duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant counselling practice experience preferred
  • Seasoned with marriage, couple, family, and individual counselling.
  • Strong professional counselling judgement with sound knowledge of counselling ethics, case management, referrals, and documentation standards.
  • Organised and relational team player with the ability to build practical systems, coordinate people well, and work independently with maturity and dependability.
