Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have basic cooking skills, a strong willingness to learn, and an eagerness to support the kitchen in food preparation and ensuring a smooth kitchen operation. As an Assistant Cook, you will assist with food preparation, assist other cooks in their duties, and ensure a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation Assistance:

  • Assist with chopping, peeling, and preparing ingredients for cooking.
  • Prepare basic ingredients such as sauces, garnishes, and side dishes as directed by the head cook or chef.
  • Follow instructions from the cook or chef in the preparation of menu items.
  • Ensure that all food preparation is done according to safety and cleanliness standards.

Kitchen Support and Operations:

  • Assist in cooking and assembling food under the supervision of the chef or head cook.
  • Keep the kitchen area clean and organized, ensuring workstations are ready for use.
  • Help in the daily inventory checks and assist with stock organization.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, rotation, and stock management.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Ensure all kitchen tools and equipment are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
  • Assist in following proper storage procedures to ensure food safety and reduce waste.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and cooking of dishes.
  • Support the head cook or chef with any kitchen tasks as directed.
  • Assist in organizing food prep stations and ensuring all ingredients are easily accessible.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong willingness to learn new cooking techniques and recipes.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
