Responsibilities

A Construction Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on a construction site, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications and regulations.

Job Summary

The Construction Site Supervisor coordinates and supervises construction activities on-site, manages workers and subcontractors, monitors progress, enforces safety standards, and ensures quality workmanship throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision

  • Oversee daily construction activities and workforce operations.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and laborers.
  • Ensure work is performed according to approved plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor project schedules and track progress against milestones.

Safety Management

  • Enforce workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and toolbox meetings.
  • Identify and address potential hazards and unsafe work practices.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Quality Control

  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Verify materials and workmanship meet project requirements.
  • Resolve on-site technical issues and construction defects.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants and regulatory authorities.

Resource Management

  • Schedule labor, equipment, and materials efficiently.
  • Monitor material deliveries and inventory levels.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and used properly.
  • Control site costs and minimize waste.

Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain daily site records and progress reports.
  • Communicate project updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate with engineers, architects, and clients.
  • Report delays, incidents, and potential risks promptly.

Qualifications

  • Technical qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant construction site supervision experience (typically 3–10 years depending on project size).
  • Knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in project management and reporting tools.
