The boilerman is responsible for tasks like routine inspections, troubleshooting, and adhering to safety regulations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operation: Operating and monitoring boiler systems, including adjusting controls and ensuring proper fuel supply.
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, such as cleaning components, inspecting systems, and conducting preventative maintenance.
- Safety: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues with boiler systems.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of operations, maintenance, and repairs.
Specific Tasks:
- Fuel Management: Ensuring appropriate fuel delivery and monitoring fuel levels.
- Water Level & Chemical Control: Monitoring water levels and chemical control in boiler systems.
- Pressure & Temperature Monitoring: Reading gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler performance.
- Valve Operation: Activating valves to regulate water, air, and fuel flow within boilers.
- Start-up and Shutdown: Assisting in start-up and shutdown procedures.
Boilermaker vs. Boiler Operator:It's important to note that "boilermaker" and "boiler operator" are distinct roles:
