Network Engineer

Job Description

You will be working side by side with the network core team in ensuring network availability and serviceability for a secure, resilient and stable distributed environment. Your primary responsibility is to support and maintain the network access layer for our enterprise networks. You will manage access to the wired and wireless networks, ensuring last-mile connectivity for multiple locations. In addition, you will manage network communications rooms, provide cabling interconnect services for structured cabling, and coordinate with Facilities Management to ensure uninterrupted power and cooling delivery.

This is a 24 x 7 operational role and may require participation in scheduled after-office-hour maintenance activities and response to unscheduled incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, WLAN controllers, AAA servers and encryptors.
• Respond to and resolve network access, authentication, authorization and performance-related issues.
• Monitor network availability and investigate system alerts.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis and support replacement of failed network components.
• Support configuration compliance, backup management, firmware upgrades and automation activities.
• Manage network communications rooms, structured cabling, UPS and PDU-related activities.
• Coordinate with Facilities Management and external vendors for network-related operations.
• Maintain network documentation, rack layouts, cabling records and inventory controls.
• Support equipment lifecycle management, maintenance contracts and project implementation activities.

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology or Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant working experience;
• OR Diploma in Information Technology or Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent with at least 6 years of relevant working experience.
• Preferably with Cisco CCNA certification.
• Good working knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLAN, Spanning Tree, 802.1X, HSRP/VRRP, 802.11 Wi-Fi, Static Routes, OSPF and EIGRP.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, wireless LAN controllers, Cisco ISE, WAN/Internet services and network monitoring solutions.
• Experience with Ansible, Python, Terraform and GitLab is an advantage.

Strong customer service orientation, communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
