Role Description This is a full-time Application Technician role based in WP. Kuala Lumpur, offered on a hybrid basis with a mix of on-site and work-from-home arrangements. The Application Technician will support laboratory operations by preparing samples, operating and maintaining testing equipment, and performing routine measurements and analyses according to established methods and safety standards. The role includes documenting test results, assisting with troubleshooting of applications or equipment issues, and collaborating with engineers and metallurgists to implement technical solutions for clients. The Application Technician will help set up and validate testing procedures, ensure proper calibration and housekeeping of instruments, and contribute to continuous improvement of lab workflows. The role also involves communicating clearly with internal teams and, when required, supporting customer inquiries related to test methods, results, or application performance.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in laboratory operations, including sample preparation, equipment setup, basic calibration, and adherence to safety and quality procedures.
- Applied problem-solving skills to support testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of application solutions in industrial or R&D environments.
- Ability to accurately document data, follow standard operating procedures, and use basic digital tools (e.g., office productivity software, lab reporting systems).
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, metallurgists, and other technical staff.
- Diploma or degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline) or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Prior experience in a testing laboratory or industrial technical support role, especially in oil and gas, power, manufacturing, semiconductor, construction, or automotive, is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
