As part of the Engineering Infrastructure team, the DBaaS - DB Solution team supports Shopee’s business growth by providing a unified, seamless, scalable database access solution. The team develops common services, frameworks, libraries, and practices that promote the unification of backend architecture, enhance engineering efficiency, and ensure that backend service development is smooth, stable, and aligned.
Job Description
- Design and implement high-performance, efficient database access solutions to enhance Shopee's backend architecture, moving towards a cohesive and unified system.
- Identify and resolve emerging challenges in database access domains, proposing innovative solutions that ensure a seamless and scalable experience.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to develop and execute company-wide strategies aimed at improving the efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources, ensuring sustainable management of services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science or related fields.
- Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in backend development
- Strong and hands-on experience with at least one of the programming languages: Go, Python, C++, Java.
- Expertise in low-latency/high-throughput distributed systems and performance tuning
- In-depth understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures and algorithms, operating -systems, networks, databases, etc.).
- Strong in logical thinking and problem-solving skills, actively seeking challenges
- Strong ownership, good communication skills, having teamwork spirit and capable of working independently under pressure
- Passionate about coding and programming, innovation, and solving challenging problems.
Skills Below Are Optional But Preferable
- Hands-on experience with RDMA networking (InfiniBand/RoCE) and high-speed interconnect protocols.
- Knowledge of Linux development environments, multi-threaded programming, inter-process communication.
- Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL.
- Knowledge of MySQL data sharding and scaling methods, solutions, and technologies such as Vitess and ShardingSphere.
