Senior Network L2 Operations and SME
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Network L2 Operations Lead / SME to join a growing technology team supporting enterprise network operations. This role is ideal for professionals with strong hands-on experience in network operations, incident management, troubleshooting, and service delivery within large-scale environments.
You will serve as a key escalation point for critical incidents, lead operational governance, drive service improvements, and provide technical expertise across routing, switching, WAN, SD-WAN, and network infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end L2 network operations, including incident, problem, and change management
- Act as the primary escalation point for major incidents and critical outages
- Perform advanced troubleshooting for complex network issues and performance bottlenecks
- Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and preventive actions for recurring incidents
- Support LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, routing, and switching environments
- Coordinate with L1 teams, L3 engineers, vendors, and stakeholders
- Lead operational reviews, governance meetings, and service reporting
- Review network configurations and drive network optimization initiatives
- Ensure SLA and KPI compliance across operational activities
- Support network change implementation and compliance management
- Manage monitoring improvements, event correlation, and alert optimization
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Support business continuity planning (BCP) and disaster recovery (DR) activities
Requirements
- 8–10 years of experience in Network Operations, Network Engineering, or Network Support environments
- Strong experience with Routing & Switching technologies
- Hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLAN, VPN, SD-WAN, LAN, and WAN technologies
- Experience handling major incidents, change management, and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or similar platforms
- Experience working within ITIL-based operational environments
- Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills
- Experience working with enterprise network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Fortinet
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Exposure to network automation initiatives
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
- Knowledge of enterprise network monitoring and reporting tools
