Job Description

Responsibilities

Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items to the restaurant’s quality standards. This role ensures smooth daily kitchen operations by maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and efficiency across assigned stations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare ingredients, mise en place, and station setup according to daily requirements
Cook and present dishes according to recipes, portioning standards, and plating guidelines
Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation always meet the restaurant’s standards
Assist in prep work for upcoming services, including marination, cutting, and batch cooking

Station Management

Maintain cleanliness and organisation of assigned station throughout service
Replenish ingredients and supplies as needed during operations
Follow FIFO and proper food storage procedures
Communicate any shortages, quality issues, or equipment problems to the supervisor promptly

Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
Ensure compliance with SFA regulations and internal SOPs
Understand and practise safe handling of kitchen tools, equipment, and hot surfaces
Participate in regular cleaning schedules, including deep cleaning tasks

Teamwork & Operations Support

Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth and timely service flow
Assist other stations when required during peak periods
Support inventory checks and deliveries by receiving, inspecting, and storing supplies

REQUIREMENTS

Prior experience as a Line Cook / Cook in a restaurant or similar kitchen environment preferred
Basic understanding of kitchen stations, cooking techniques, and food safety
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong teamwork, communication, and follow-through
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required
Physically fit to stand for long periods and handle kitchen equipment safely
