Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description GENNAL Engineering Pte Ltd is a system integration company specializing in power electronics and electrical engineering, including AC/DC and DC/AC conversion. The company designs and builds low-voltage Variable Speed Drive systems for both land-based and marine applications. With over a decade of experience in hybrid electric shipbuilding, GENNAL Engineering has established strong expertise in maritime electrification. The company continues to develop hybrid and fully electric vessels to meet the demands of tomorrow’s market, focusing on innovation, reliability, and energy efficiency. Candidates will join a team that operates at the intersection of advanced power solutions and sustainable marine technology.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Engineer role based in Singapore. The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and implement power electronics and low-voltage electrical systems, including AC/DC and DC/AC conversion and Variable Speed Drive solutions for land and marine projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing electrical schematics and layouts, performing calculations and simulations, selecting components, and supporting system integration and testing. The role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during commissioning, conducting inspections and factory acceptance tests, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations. The Electrical Engineer will also collaborate closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, and external vendors, prepare technical documentation, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including power electronics, AC/DC and DC/AC conversion, and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with system design and integration for Variable Speed Drives and motor control applications, preferably in land or marine environments.
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools and software (e.g., CAD for schematics and layouts, basic simulation tools for circuit analysis).
  • Practical skills in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical systems, including use of standard electrical measurement instruments.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical and marine standards, safety regulations, and best practices in installation and maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on-site, including occasional visits to shipyards, customer facilities, and project sites as required.
  • Prior experience in marine electrical systems, hybrid or fully electric vessels, or industrial drive systems is an advantage.
