Job Title: Cost Controller

Job Level: Executive / Mid-Level

Department: Finance Department

Location: TBC, Singapore (Onsite: Need to visit office in SG + outlets)

Salary: $ 5,000 - 7,000

Working Days: 5-6 days/week

JOB SUMMARY/ JOB OVERVIEW :

The Cost Controller safeguards the profitability of Initia’s F&B outlets by owning day-to-day cost discipline across food, beverage, and operational spend. This role drives accuracy in inventory, COGS, and purchasing controls, and partners closely with outlet managers and the kitchen to keep actual costs in line with targets. The Cost Controller is the front line of margin protection across our multi-brand, multi-outlet operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and control food, beverage, packaging, and operational costs across multiple brands and outlets.
  • Analyze COGS, gross profit margins, and cost variances, providing actionable recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Review inventory movements, stock transfers, wastage, and stock adjustments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper cost allocation.
  • Conduct and oversee periodic stock counts and inventory audits, investigating discrepancies, stock losses, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Partner with Outlet Managers and Kitchen Teams to ensure recipe compliance, portion control, yield management, and food cost optimization.
  • Review menu and product costing, supporting pricing strategies that align with profitability targets.
  • Monitor purchasing activities and supplier pricing to ensure compliance with procurement policies, budgets, and cost-control measures.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate cost control reports, dashboards, reconciliations, and management summaries.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning through cost analysis and performance insights.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over inventory, purchasing, receiving, and stock management processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Warehouse, and Finance teams to drive cost efficiency and operational improvements.
  • Support internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance cost visibility, accountability, and profitability.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties and projects assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in Cost Control, Inventory Management, Finance, or Operational Accounting.
  • Strong experience in the F&B, hospitality, restaurant, retail, or multi-outlet environment is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing food and beverage costing, inventory controls, and margin analysis.
  • Strong understanding of COGS management, inventory accounting, procurement controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, POS systems, inventory management systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Proactive, commercially minded, and results-oriented with a strong focus on profitability and operational excellence.

  • Effective control of COGS and achievement of targeted cost percentages across outlets.
  • High inventory accuracy and timely reconciliation of stock movements.
  • Reduction of wastage, stock losses, and cost leakages.
  • Identification and implementation of cost-saving and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Strong compliance with inventory, purchasing, and operational control procedures.
  • Actionable cost insights and recommendations that support business profitability.
  • Successful collaboration with Operations, Kitchen, Procurement, and Finance teams to improve overall financial performance.
