BJAK is building automation systems that help customers move through insurance journeys faster - from quote to policy issuance, renewals, endorsements and claims.
We are looking for Backend Engineers who can build the logic, APIs and services behind these workflows. This role is for someone who enjoys solving real process problems, not just writing isolated code.
The Mission

What You’ll Own

- Automate quote, policy issuance, endorsement and claims follow-up logic.
- Connect customer data, insurer requirements, internal tasks and status updates.
- Improve APIs, queues, retries, error handling and workflow visibility.
- Debug production issues and fix root causes.
- Work with product, operations, QA, frontend and DevOps teams.
- Write maintainable code that supports long-term scale.
What We’re Looking For
- Backend engineering experience in production systems.
- Strong understanding of APIs, databases and backend logic.
- Able to debug complex workflow or data issues.
- Comfortable working with real business operations.
- Good judgment on reliability, edge cases and maintainability.
- Takes ownership from problem discovery to resolution.
- Practical, humble and open to feedback.
The Kind of Builder We Want
- Hands-on and detail-oriented.
- Interested in automation and process improvement.
- Calm when requirements are unclear.
- Serious about building reliable systems.
- Driven by customer and operational impact.
This Role Is Not For
- People who only want clean, isolated feature work.
- People who dislike debugging messy flows.
- People who ignore edge cases and failure paths.
- People who need perfect requirements before starting.
- People who do not care about business impact.
Success Looks Like
- More customer and operations workflows are automated.
- Backend failures and repeated manual fixes reduce.
- Internal teams get clearer status visibility.
- Customer follow-ups become faster and more reliable.
- Your systems become trusted by product and operations teams.
