Position Overview
EOS Innovation Singapore is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support defence product development programs. This role owns the creation, review, and release of robust mechanical designs that meet customer and system requirements and that integrate cleanly with mechanical, electronic, and optical subsystems. You will work day-to-day with customers, subcontractors, internal design teams, and production teams to deliver high-quality outcomes on fast-paced projects. This role reports to the General Manager / Technical Director.
Primary Duties
This role delivers highly technical mechanical design at all scales and at all levels, requiring ownership of a design from concept, through detailed design and analysis, and into manufacture. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will have the experience and confidence to make informed design decisions, execute them efficiently, and communicate them effectively to the team. They will be a natural part of a peer review process and join large-scale project design reviews to ensure product innovation and quality.
Responsibilities
- Design structural elements of a moderate-scale product, using modern techniques such as FEA and relevant simulation to deliver a confident design.
- Produce and manage designs that integrate seamlessly with other mechanical elements as well as electronic and optical components.
- Use design-for-manufacture principles, and a knowledge of production and manufacturing processes, to generate parts and assemblies that are cost-effective to produce and easy to integrate.
- Identify and introduce relevant international standards to design work and create documentation that demonstrates a rigorous design process.
- Own mechanical verification planning and execution, including definition of test requirements, support to prototype builds and review of test evidence to demonstrate compliance with customer and system requirements.
- Demonstrate best practices in model and drawing generation, employing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to modern standards.
- Contribute productively to design reviews in key project areas.
- Confidently manage suppliers and contractors to deliver on complex parts and assemblies.
- Transition designs to production teams, supporting manufacture and integration.
Education and Experience
- Mechanical Engineering degree with 5+ years’ experience in a modern industrial engineering environment
- Produced mechanical designs from start-to-finish in an industrial or defence business
- Excellence in CAD on a recognised platform (Creo, NX, SolidWorks etc.)
- Experience in working within an engineering and change management framework
- Configuration management experience preferred
