Role Description The Accounting Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Penang, Malaysia. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including data entry of invoices and receipts, processing payments, updating ledgers, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Accounting Assistant will assist with bookkeeping tasks, bank reconciliations, preparation of basic financial reports, and organizing documentation for audits and tax filings. The role also includes coordinating with internal teams and clients to obtain necessary information, ensuring timely filing and compliance, and supporting the accounting team with administrative tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple assignments in a professional services environment.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in accounting principles with experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel and Word).
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and timely completion of tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity and professionalism.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work on-site in Penang, manage workload independently, and collaborate within a small team.
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in an accounting firm, consultancy, or SME support environment is an added advantage.
