Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Financial Reporting Manager to join our finance team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia reporting to the Financial Controller APAC, located in Sydney, Australia, while also working closely with Graymont’s head office in Vancouver, Canada . This role will be part of a team that produces high‑quality
IFRS financial reporting, provides
technical accounting expertise, and supports the business with complex accounting judgements, impairment assessments, sustainability reporting, and ad‑hoc reporting and compliance requirements. This role will lead, coach, develop, guide or set objectives for two direct reports located in Malaysia.
This is a hands‑on technical role suited to a professional who enjoys working independently, problem‑solving, interpreting accounting standards, and partnering closely with senior finance leaders, auditors, and other stakeholders.
Key Focus Areas The Role Will Include
Financial Reporting & IFRS Compliance
- Prepare and support the preparation of IFRS‑compliant financial statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules, including quarterly and annual reporting.
- Support the application of IFRS accounting policies across group entities.
- Research accounting standards and draft technical accounting position papers and accounting memos.
- Support impairment assessments for goodwill, intangibles, and PPE
Ad‑hoc Reporting & Projects
- Support the global budgeting and forecasting team.
- Support the preparation of sustainability reporting under ISSB or equivalent standards.
- Support the review of project proposal cash flow models.
- Support ad‑hoc financial analysis, transactions, special projects, & other tasks.
- Collaborate with other finance team members and departments across Graymont to troubleshoot and manage day-to-day issues as they arise
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience in researching and documenting technical accounting issues
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions (North America and Asia Pacific).
- Experience in similar reporting or audit roles, with a professional qualification such as CPA or CA, preferably with industry experience and 5 years’ experience.
- Big four accounting firm experience is desirable.
- Experience with sustainability-reporting standards or frameworks such as IFRS S2 or TCFD disclosures would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex issues independently and propose practical solutions.
- High integrity, self-motivation, and ability to work in both independent and collaborative settings in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent in English communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders.
