About the role

Sure Solar Sdn Bhd is seeking a fresh graduate/junior Solar Design Engineer to join our growing team. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of renewable energy innovation. As a Solar Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing efficient, cost-effective solar energy solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future. You will be responsible for designing and optimising solar photovoltaic (PV) systems whilst ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position is integral to our mission of delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions to residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

Key responsibilities

1. Design and develop solar photovoltaic systems, including system sizing, component selection, and layout planning

2. Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate solar potential and identify optimal system configurations for different project types

3. Perform electrical calculations, load analysis, and design specifications in accordance with relevant standards and safety regulations

4. Prepare detailed technical drawings, system diagrams, bill of materials (BOM), and design documentation for installation teams and clients

5. Optimise system performance through energy yield analysis, shading assessments, and inverter and panel selection

6. Collaborate with project managers, installers, and clients to ensure designs meet project requirements and budgetary constraints

7. Stay current with evolving solar technologies, standards, and best practices to continuously improve design quality

8. Conduct quality assurance reviews of designs and provide technical support during system implementation and commissioning

9. Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and system specifications for client proposals and tenders

10. Liaise with electrical contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with building codes and electrical standards

What we're looking for

1. Diploma in Electrical Engineering, or related field

2. Fresh graduate are welcomed, at least 1 year experience in solar designing will be an added bonus

3. Proficiency with solar design software such as PVsyst and Opensolar

4. Excellent understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations relevant to solar installations in Malaysia and internationally

5. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent) for technical drawing production

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot design challenges

7. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy in all design work
