JOB PURPOSE
To be responsible and accountable for overseeing the operational performance, reliability, and compliance of the company’s renewable energy assets. This role ensures that renewable energy assets such as solar, biogas, and C&I rooftop systems operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the company’s operational standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
To support the development and implementation of asset management strategies, O&M frameworks, performance analytics, and risk mitigation plans. The role coordinates closely with O&M operators, site teams, internal departments (Engineering, Projects, BD, Finance, HSE), and external stakeholders to ensure optimal asset performance and sustained generation output.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESULT AREA
1) Asset Performance & Optimization
- Monitor, analyze, and improve the performance of plant assets to ensure optimal energy generation.
- Identify underperforming assets and implement corrective actions to maximize yield and ROI.
- Ensure compliance with performance guarantees and operational KPIs.
- Lead root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Track KPIs and enforce performance improvement plans.
2) Operational & Technical Oversight
- Oversee daily operational performance of all renewable assets.
- Ensure assets meet targeted availability, PR, CUF, and generation budgets.
- Manage and monitor O&M contractors to ensure SLA, OMA, LTSA compliance.
- Conduct site inspections, technical audits, and operational health checks.
- Oversee incident response, troubleshooting, and escalation procedures.
3) Asset Lifecycle & Investment Planning
- Manage & oversees asset lifecycle planning during operating, upgrading, repowering and/or decommissioning stages.
- Assist in financial modelling, yield assessments, and ROI analysis for asset decisions.
- Support due diligence in asset acquisitions and divestments.
4) Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all assets operate in compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements (e.g., SEDA, TNB, Energy Commission).
- Prepare operational reports, board papers, and technical summaries for stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal and external audits; lead physical verification exercises.
- Support regulatory audits, reporting, and submission requirements.
- Maintain and update asset documentation (SOPs, OMA, RA, HIRARC, logs)
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports.
- Compile dashboards for upper management.
- Highlight issues, risks, and improvement action
5) Maintenance & Contract Oversight
- To oversee the planned annual preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance programs and outage scheduling
- Oversee vendor performance and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- To oversee and manage warranties and claims related to vendors and contractors.
- To review maintenance records, checklists, spare parts usage, and inventory levels as if required .
6) Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage asset budgets, cost optimization, capex planning and lifecycle planning.
- Provide input for financial forecasting, performance reporting, and variance analysis.
- Oversee insurance claims, warranty management, and contractual compliance with vendors and service providers
7) Team Leadership & People Management
- Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Project Development teams.
- Manage and mentor asset coordinators or analysts.
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory authorities, external auditors, consultants and OEMs.
- Oversee asset O&M team or administrators where applicable.
- Coordinate with procurement, finance, operations, IT, and external vendors to align on asset needs and issues
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCES
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, Finance, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in asset or operations management in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
- 5+ years of experience in asset management, facilities, of solar PV, BESS, biogas, C&I rooftop systems etc.
- Strong understanding of renewable technologies (solar PV, BESS, biogas, C&I rooftop systems, etc)
- Proficient in asset performance platforms, SCADA systems, and MS Excel/Power BI.
- Familiarity with Malaysian renewable energy regulatory landscape (e.g., SEDA FiT/NEM schemes).
- Familiarity with ISO 55000 (Asset Management Standard) is a plus.
