Job Summary
The Sales Assistant is responsible for assisting customers, promoting products, supporting daily sales activities, maintaining product displays, and ensuring customers receive a friendly and helpful shopping experience.This role mainly supports the sales of durian products, souvenir items, local products, and other retail merchandise. The Sales Assistant is expected to understand product features, recommend suitable products to customers, follow up on customer needs, and support the team in achieving sales targets.The position is suitable for candidates who are friendly, sales-driven, customer-focused, responsible, and willing to learn about products and service standards.
Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Product Recommendation
- Greet customers politely and provide friendly assistance during their shopping experience.
- Understand customer needs and recommend suitable durian products, souvenir items, local products, or merchandise.
- Explain product features, pricing, promotions, packaging options, and basic product information clearly.
- Provide customer guidance on product selection and create a positive customer experience.
2. Sales & Promotion Support
- Carry out active selling, upselling, and cross-selling according to customer needs and company instructions.
- Support daily sales targets, promotional campaigns, product sampling, and customer engagement activities.
- Prepare sales checks, order intake, reservations, or customer purchase records when required.
- Follow up with customers on orders, product availability, or after-sales arrangements when needed.
3. Product Display, Stock & Merchandise Handling
- Arrange product displays, shelves, price tags, promotional materials, and merchandise presentation neatly.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor when products need replenishment.
- Examine merchandise condition and report damaged, expired, missing, or slow-moving items.
- Ensure stock storage safety and maintain proper product handling, especially for durian and food-related items.
4. Cashier, Refund & Daily Operation Support
- Operate the cash point, POS system, or payment terminal when required.
- Support payment processing, sales invoices, receipts, refunds, exchanges, or packing purchases according to company procedures.
- Maintain store cleanliness, counter readiness, product area tidiness, and customer service standards.
- Support theft prevention and ensure products, cash, and customer orders are properly handled.
5. Customer Follow-Up & Team Coordination
- Maintain good relationships with customers and provide customer follow-up service when required.
- Coordinate with shop supervisor, cashier, stock team, or operations team regarding customer orders, stock needs, or service issues.
- Keep simple records of customer orders, merchandise delivery, or special requests when needed.
- Support team members during peak hours, events, promotions, and busy operation periods.
Requirements
- Minimum SPM, PMR, Certificate, TVET certification, or equivalent qualification.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Experience in retail sales, souvenir sales, food product sales, durian sales, customer service, cashiering, or front-line service will be an advantage.
- Able to communicate politely and confidently with customers.
- Able to explain product information, pricing, promotions, and recommendations clearly.
- Able to communicate in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin will be an advantage.
- Friendly, sales-driven, responsible, patient, and customer-focused.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks during peak hours.
- Able to work on weekends, public holidays, shifts, or extended hours when required by operations.
