Job Overview:
The Associate Riser Engineer utilizes existing Riser procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Riser and Engineering.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis and calculations on basic engineering tasks
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
- Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
- Gain understanding of design and analysis processes with riser engineering
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
- Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking understanding
- Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
- Prepare sketches of detail design to guide designers
- Review MTOs for requisitions
- Review vendor data for input to riser components and interfaces
- Review design data for input to riser components and interfaces
- Check drawings
- Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
- Develop an awareness of costs related to own work
- Develop basic understanding of MDR’s business and customers it serves
- Develop basic knowledge of MDR’s business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions
- Develop advanced skills in use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Perform riser analysis under supervision such as:
- Fatigue Analysis
- Strength Analysis
- Installation Analysis
- Clashing Analysis
Reports to: Sr Manager (Sub Sea Engineering)
Liaise With: Engineers, Design Supervisor and Designers of own discipline
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- 0-3 years of experience in oil and gas Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering (Masters is a preference)
- Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable. Learning design techniques and analysis methods
